Loreal puts false claims (accompanied with pictures of models) on their products!

My hair turned really really black! It also has uneven tone - the roots are much lighter (although I don't have roots, since I don't have gray hair yet!) The ends are REALLY REALLY DARK BLACK !! instead of light brown!!

I tried to die it again with a lighter color - it didn't work either!! I am stuck with it , don't know what to do!!!

I will never buy their products and wanted to warn everybody about this!

The lady at the cosmetics counter at CVS told me this is pretty common in Loreal Products!!

Monetary Loss: $1.

Location: Bridgeport, Connecticut

ive just had the same ecperience it is nothing like the colour on the box. it is a dark brown and was supposed to be a light golden brown with hints of blonde. Im debating weather to use loreal again their products are going down in my estimation as being untrue to their word

Glad I saw the warning! Thanks

OMG! You are not the only one.

I had very light hair color, bought 2 packs of loreal feria red auburn and now my hair is jet black as well. I am so pissed off.

You are right, they are definitely false advertising with models with nice color! Will never ever ever buy again!

I thought I was the only one!!!I to dyed my hair light golden brown.

I have always used this product and it has never done this. That's why I was such in shock when my roots turn out to be lighter and the rest of my hair black!!!!!

What happened?? I don't know what to do.

I have made an appointment with a hair stylist to see what they can do. And that's not the worst part, it also left a green tint to my hair.

I am so disappointed. Now I'm going to have to spend more money to fix my hair because I do not want to spend one cent on box color from the store anymore.

Loreal, you have ruined my hair and I was a loyal customer. Please check and fix your problem.

I agree! I already had a red color in my hair.

So I bought loreal bright red color to retouch my hair, and it turned it black. I thought it was my fault for putting too much.

I fixed my hair and then I bought it again, and it happened twice. I do not recommend loreal.

Same thing happened to me. I had light brown hair and wanted a richer color but hair turned jet black.

I have shampooed my hair over 8 times in the last 24 hours since my bad dye job but no result so far.

I hope my hair color fades but don't know since this was a permanent dye. Will never ever use loreal again!!

It means your doing it wrong

Same thing, I look like Elvis. My hair is super dark and it is suppose to be mahogony brown with reddish tint. Help!!!!

Protein fillers are the key here when hair has been previously lightened/gone through a chemical process. Your hair gets stripped of proteins and takes to color too strongly. You can get a bottle of protein filler at Sallys for $3-5

Someone that makes sense lol Thank you!

Also: Your roots went a different color because they likely were virgin hair (no dye on them) ; roots will always pull faster and differently than the rest of your hair - dye should always be added to roots last. Always apply below the end of the outgrowth (root) (mid-shaft maybe) and then for the last five or ten minutes - apply it to your roots and then wash out..

If your hair is already light-ish ; you always want to choose a shade or two lighter than the color you're hoping to achieve because it's going to deposit a lot darker than you want if you try to use the actual shade.

Hi! Just to let you and anyone else know - L'Oreal isn't to blame.

I come from a large family of barbers and cosmetologists. There are (at least) two reasons that a brown die will turn hair black. One of them is if your hair is already dark - a dark color is going to be even darker on your hair. The second is that if your hair was previously quite light - it's going to be darker than it might on someone else's hair. The reason dying another color over it wouldn't fix it for you is because color can not lift color - you need a cream lightener or bleach to lift that color once it has been deposited OR you can use a color corrector or color ***.

Sally's Beauty Supply can help you out with which product would be best for you. [:

i had the same problem with u..b4 my hair color was bronze brown but after i used loreal ash mahogany brown it turned really dark hair...so i nvr ever buy loreal brand..

I had the same problem with Clairol light brown that turned black on my hair. I have light brown hair to begin with and adding hair color gives it a lift.

This is the first time I ever experienced such a thing. I went to Sally's to purchase (about $10.00) Jherri Redding Color Fix and it worked great. I only had to use a bit of it, and only used the ingredients from #1 and #2 bottle. It did burn my scalp a bit but I had to get rid of that black.

The burning was probably from my trying to wash out the black with Dawn dish soap about 8 times, but that did not work. Now I have extra hair color remover in case this happens again.

It is true that color will not lift color to a lighter color. You can only use color to lift natural hair color or use bleach or color remover which is basically the same thing when trying to take color out..

Always apply color 1 inch from the root area if you are going lighter. Add to root area after 10 - 20 min.

The warmth of the scalp will lighten the color closest to the scalp faster. So in tern apply that part last.

You can also buy a highlighting kit and use it to lighten your hair. I have also bought salon beauty store bleaching powder and 20 developer and mixed equal amounts (you may use more of the developer to apply easier) to lighten my hair only to have the next dye batch turn it black again.

I've had this trouble with medium brown dyes turning black & thought I'd try light next but looks like I'll have to be careful of what I buy. :cry :?

I have the same problem. I color my gray roots a light golden brown, and they turn black, I put 20 dev and bleach powder to lighten it back, and do it all again a month later.

I've been to 5 pro's and they couldn't do any better. It's been 6 months of this mess with no clue as to what to do to correct any of it. Have you had any luck yet?

I am so sick of the trouble and expense. I have had my hair colored by pro's and done it myself for years, and then this started happening.

I would buy some color oops, it stinks but takes the nasty dye out of your hair. Some people have to use it twice to lift the black, it's not damaging at all but does dry out your hair so just follow with a conditioning mask.

Your hair will probably be orange or brassy after. Buy a protein filler, Salleys has them for $3-5 and buy the color you want to apply after that.

It's okay it is fixable. ZhatChick
